What is Top Up Charging?

When an electric vehicle (EV) driver charges his vehicle when it is parked, this type of charging is known as top up charging. Usually, a driver charges his/her electric vehicle at home overnight when it is parked. But there is also a case when an EV user charges his/her vehicle in the day time when he/she is in office, gym or supermarket. The user utilizes this time to charge their vehicle when it is parked and not in use.

Advantages of Top up charging

The main advantages of top up charging are

  • User doesn’t have to wait for charging. Hence it does not waste the user’s time. In this time, the user can do his/her important work.
  • It prevents the charging of a complete discharged battery. The charging of a complete discharged battery takes more time as compared to a partially discharged battery.
