There are strong indicators from various policy makers in India to keep the focus on electric vehicles and to look at other low carbon options such as Methanol, CNG, Biofuels, etc. The government plans to work towards creating a demand for electric vehicles by buying in bulk, which could provide for large orders for automakers.

2. Hero electric

Hero electric is one of the best and largest electric two wheeler company in the world. The Hero Electric company is ranked as the second largest electric two wheeler firm in for FY2020. The company has sold more than 7400 units in the present financial year, which holds 27 percent market share. The Hero Electric company offers Photon Li and Lp, where the Li model has a feature of two Li-ion batteries and offers a 110 km economy range on a single charge. The charging time is also less for this model.

3. Ather energy

Ather Energy is the newest entry in the segment of two wheelers electric vehicles. This is basically a startup, initiated in Bangaluru. The Bengaluru centered company manufactures electric scooter and growing in the market at a high rate. In this financial year, more than 2900 units have been sold which holds 10 percent of the market share. The company is expanding with innovative ideas of marketing, including exchange offers.

4. Ampere vehicles

The company Ampere vehicles is the oldest of among them. The origin of the company is also Bangaluru. The company is 12 years old now and growing further. The company empowers women by providing job opportunities to the women of all around. The company sold 2500 units in the present financial year and secured 9 percent of the market share.

5. Revolt motors

The company Revolt motors is the newest in the field of electric two wheeler vehicles. The origin of this company is in Gurugram. The company claims to be selling the first Al-enabled electric motorcycle in India. In the 6 months of taking orders, the company reached the mark of 1000 in selling the motorcycles. This sale holds 4 percent of the market share.

3. Hyundai Kona

It is known almost to all that the company Hyundai offers power-packed driving experience of KONA electric SUV. The company is also planning to install EV charging facilities in India.

The company Kia motors is a manufacturer of Hybrid Plug-in vehicles, electric vehicles, hydrogen fuel cell cars, etc. the company produces high-efficiency EV motors, massive Li-ion polymer batteries and built-in slow charging system for domestic uses.

5. Ashok leyland electric

The company Ashok Leyland electric is one of the largest manufacturers of electric vehicles in the world, mainly in bus manufacturing. This is the market leader of trucks in India. An electric bus called Circuit has been launched in India by this company. The company also manufactures advanced non-plugin version of HYBUS, Electric Euro 6 truck and announced Ibus.

6. Ola

Ola is a company that runs electric public transport vehicles in India. Ola has launched a multimodel electric vehicle project in Nagpur. The company is planning to invest in the set up of charging stations across the major cities of India. The company has also come up with a plan of launching around 10000 electric rickshaws in India.

Like these companies, there are also many startups that are working on the manufacturing of two wheelers and four wheelers electric vehicles. Some of them are Tork Motors, Menza Motors, Verge Motors, Emflux, Twenty-two Motors, Lush motors, etc. All of these startups have different capacities for manufacturing electric vehicles. Tork Motors have a manufacturing capacity of 1000 units per year.

The Ahmadabad based electric automobile company Menza motors launched their first electric motorcycle in 2018. Verge motors is the manufacturer of electric scooters that can also be run on petrol. There is a switch that allows the switching between electricity and petrol. Emflux has launched the first electric superbike of India.

The Twenty-two motors launched its first electric vehicle, the flow electric scooter. The scooter has a unique style and price is also affordable. The Lush motors is a Hyderabad based startup that was established in 2013. The startup launched Lush L1 as which is India’s first Electric Smart Urban Mobility Vehicle (SUMV).
